PHWFA Cheerleading

We have put together a committee of women dedicated to making cheerleading a positive, rewarding experience for all our girls from 1st through 8th grade. With the support of our Coaching staff, our Community, and all of our Falcon families, the Prospect Heights Falcons have high hopes for this upcoming season as well as for years to come.

Our objective is to guide our young athletes in developing both socially and physically. Through practice and participation, our girls will gain a sense of responsibility, commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship. They will gain respect for themselves as well as others. With the assistance of our talented high school cheerleaders it is our goal to teach the girls the newest and latest cheers and pom moves in a safe and enjoyable manner. We know they will take with them fond memories as they move forward to high school and beyond.

The Prospect Heights/Wheeling Football Association (PHWFA) is a member of the Tri-County Youth Football League. We travel ½ of our games to our surrounding opponents and play ½ of our games at our home field. Our home field is Muir. Muir is located on Equestrian (4 blocks N. of Palatine Rd.) between Elmhurst Road/Route 83 & Wolf Road.

Our games are played on Saturday or Sunday, starting the last week of August through October. A schedule is made available to us 1 week prior to the first game.

Our Flag division is an in-house league with games played at Wheeling H.S. on Sundays. Our flag division does not travel.

The PHFA is overseen by a Football Board and Cheerleading Director and is a 100% volunteer organization. To contact the 2008 Falcons Cheerleading Director Director, Michelle Weinstein, e-mail her at mwein@att.net.

Parents are needed to support our program by way of volunteering for committees such as Rally Night, Fundraising, Field Set Up, Take Down, and Team Moms to support our Coaches.

Our Concession stand for home games will need to be manned by volunteer parents or family members. Each football team and cheer squad will be given two 4 hour time slots to fill during the season. When the Coach gets the date and time info - they will be looking for families to fulfill their 4 hour time commitment that they made at registration.

Falcon apparel and spiritwear is available for ordering at registration time and also available for purchase at various times during our season. Check our all new Website for updated information. Game schedules, maps, scores, & event information will be found as we get closer to the 2008 Season. We will be updating as we get information.

Schedule of Events
We have a lot of exciting events scheduled with a few dates yet to be determined. The schedule is as follows:

Practice starts in July and will be held twice a week behind St. Alphonsus on Wheeling Road. July practices are important as we will be learning and mastering our half-time routines. We will update you with more specific information as we get closer to the season. When school starts, practice will only be held once a week, time to be determined by your Coach.

Team Picture Day - Date and times to be determined
Each team or squad is scheduled to share their smile & "show off" their Falcon Pride in team and individual photos at the Gary Morava Center. Your Coach will verify your teams scheduled time approximately 2 weeks in advance.

Rally Night - Date and time to be determined
An evening for registered Falcon Families to celebrate and "Rally Round" to show your Falcon spirit. Dinner is provided for each family member and good times are guaranteed for all!

Homecoming - Date to be determined
Families of both football and cheerleaders gather at Bank One (at Rand & Euclid Roads), at their assigned team time to decorate cars, paint their hair, & parade to the field, showing off their "Falcon Pride" as they go! Date TBD.

End of the Season Party
Each team will have an end of the season party to celebrate the season and award trophies. This afternoon or evening is scheduled by the football or cheer coaches of each team/squad to accommodate as many people as possible. Although this is an optional event, we hope to see you and your family there!

PHFA Fan Appreciation Banquet - Date to be determined
The 2008 Fan Appreciation Banquet will be held in November 2008. The date and location will be determined at a later date. The 2008 PHFA Raffle Drawing will be held at this event.
